Mainstreets Pittsburgh
West End is a participant in the Mainstreets Pittsburgh Program, which provides support to neighborhood business districts. The Urban Redevelopment Authority of Pittsburgh runs the program in partnership with the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development.

West End's South Main Street plays a vital role in the overall health of the neighborhood, and Mainstreets Pittsburgh has supported and funded numerous projects over the past several years to ensure the business district continues to attract residents, visitors and business owners. Recently funded projects include James Gallery and Steuben Square.
